SOA and Microsoft Oslo
Just when you thought new acronyms were a thing of the past in the SOA world, Microsoft just unveiled its latest undertaking code-named 'Oslo'. Its not a product by itself, but rather a holistic approach to all the numerous parts that will eventually compose the Service Orientated Architecture vision from a Microsoft stand-point.

Microsoft Oslo is centered around the interconnection of 'client-server & cloud', in essence the addition of the 'cloud' refers to all the numerous web services that are now beginning to play a pivotal role in the enterprise and will eventually need to seamlessly integrate with the classical client-server architecture present in most enterprises.
The product-lines that are planned to form part of 'Oslo' include: BizTalk Server 6, System Center 5, Visual Studio 10, BizTalk Services 1 and .NET Framework 4. 'Oslo' is a future road-map to be certain, as most of the aforementioned products are currently not even in these stages of development.
Nevertheless its an interesting development -- even if it is from a 100,000 ft level -- on how the .NET framework along with its accompanying development tools and infrastructure software will pan out in the coming years and compete -- or then again integrate -- with other SOA rivals.
