W3C Voice extensions for Speaker Verification and Internationalization.

W3C announced new extensions to Internationalize and Secure Voice Browsing .

The first advance comes in the form of Asian language support in Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) . With this, languages such as Japanese, Chinese Mandarin and Korean, will now have formal base on which to build speech enabled applications on the web.

The second comes in the form of adding speaker verification extensions to Voice over XML . Giving way to a standardized approach to tackling identification issues for securing telephone transactions and communications based on web environments.
